There’s a lot of celebrities that smoked a joint or two. Think about it, the reason Mary Jane in Spider-Man was given that name; it’s because it’s not only Spider-Man who can take her high. Imagine what visionary entrepreneur Richard Branson has been taking when he decided to cross the Atlantic in a hot air balloon. Morgan Freeman probably conversed with God with the same voice as his in one of his sessions. Or that Carl Sagan was in another universe entirely the whole time; that’s why he was so successful at being an astrophysicist. Marijuana seems to open up a whole new dimension in one’s brain. Here are some famous potheads and a few of their experiences with some well-meaning weed.
1. Arnold Schwarzenegger

In a documentary “Pumping Iron” from the 70s, Arnold is filmed smoking a joint. In a recent interview asking him whether it was fake or did he inhale it, he replied “I did smoke it. I did inhale it.” He was also quoted saying “No one cares if you smoke a joint or not.”
2. Barack Obama

If Bill Clinton denied smoking marijuana by saying that he didn’t inhale, President Obama has photos showing a big grin on his face while smoking a joint and enjoying it. He was also notorious when a joint is making rounds as he would intercept it and take an extra hit.
3. Carl Sagan

This rockstar of a scientist was an avid pothead. Sagan started smoking in the 60s; he believed that marijuana enhanced his insights and creativity. His Pulitzer Prize-winning book “Dragons of Eden” was said to be obviously written under the inspiration of marijuana.
4. David Letterman

The legendary pothead, Letterman, could eat two pints of ice cream in a single sitting when he smoked weed. He said, “I went through one period where I smoked a surprising, a really breathtaking, amount of grass almost every night.”
5. Morgan Freeman

It was his first wife that got him smoking pot; Freeman said that he smoked it, drank it, ate it, snorted it. Now, Freeman uses marijuana to ease the pain in his arm because of fibromyalgia. Some words from the man, “Never give up the ganja.”
6. George Clooney

This seemingly even-tempered celebrity is probably as calm as he is since he is known to visit a local cannabis cafe in the Netherlands a few times a year.
7. Hugh Hefner

The founder of Playboy was quoted saying that marijuana use helped put him “in touch with the realm of the senses” and “discovered a whole other dimension to sex.”
8. Johnny Depp

Smoking a bit more than tobacco, Depp was quoted saying that “weed is much, much less dangerous than alcohol.”
9. Kirsten Dunst

Spiderman’s Mary Jane said “America’s view on weed is ridiculous” and that this would be a better world if “everyone smoked weed.”
10. Lady Gaga

The ever unpredictable Lady Gaga revealed that after a hip operation, she smoked up to “15 spliffs a day” to help with the pain, and that it makes her feel “17 again.”
11. Michael Phelps

This titan in the sports world took a controversial turn when a photo of him holding a bong to his mouth leaked in 2009. Commenting on the leaked photo, he said “For me, it’s like, yeah, I messed up. I made a choice to do that. Nobody twisted my arm to do anything. I put myself in that position. And somebody took a picture of me. The thing for me is that I understand — doing what I’ve done — I’ve written away privacy.”
12. Oliver Sacks

The author of “The Man Who Mistook His Wife” and Neurologist, Oliver Sacks, began smoking weed as a resident in the neurology department at UCLA in 1962. He also took LSD, morphine, and amphetamines where he was able to read a 500-page Victorian treatise on migraines in one sitting. And guess the topic which launched his career as a writer? Migraine.
13. Brad Pitt

Although he hasn’t smoked weed in the past decade, he did inhale an awful lot. He stopped because he was “turning into a doughnut” and got irritated with himself.
14. Richard Branson

The Virgin founder is not only a top CEO but also a very cool dad, smoking pot with his adult son, Sam. Branson said to have learned the art of joint-rolling from the “expert,” Rolling Stones guitarist, Keith Richards.
15. Stephen King

Probably the most prolific of all horror writers, Stephen King has been quoted saying “Marijuana should not only be legal…it should be a cottage industry. It would be wonderful for the state of Maine.” King was also known to be an alcoholic; he doesn’t even remember writing his book “Cujo.”
16. Ted Turner

Ted Turner, a media mogul, is also an avid supporter of cannabis. The Turner Foundation sponsors the Kentucky Hemp Museum.
17. Willie Nelson

Country singer Willie Nelson is a cannabis activist smokes weed through joints and vape pens but never through edibles because of a bad cookie pot experience 50 years ago. He even said “I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is a herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?”
18. Jay-Z

Jay-Z, like many artists, uses weed to enhance his creative process. He claims that it even helped him wrap up “Izzo.”
These are just eighteen people. As Kirsten Dunst and Arnold Schwarzenegger said it, respectively, “everybody smoked weed” and “no one cares if you smoke a joint or not,” this list could go on endless. With what we already know, there is good stuff and bad stuff about puffing some weed. But we also heard of severe addiction issues when it comes to weed. Yes weed can be great if you know how to control yourself, if not consider a drug rehab treatment if your addiction disables you to live normally. Some mouth spray and ice cream can remedy dry mouths and some overactivity, but addiction can be a real concern when going over the top with marijuana. So as with any other forms of enjoyment, moderation is essential.
